- Al foam structure is adapted into actual hybrid crash beam without comprimising perfomance.
- An alternative crash absorber structure is developped instead of advanced plastic shock absorber.
- Al foam applied crash system is developped as an alternative solution to the plastic one with same weight but lower cost.
Techical details and lessons learned ;
- The solution is optimised according to density of aluminum foam structure
- Foam structure is embedded into plastic cover to prevent dislocation of the foam layers
- Drop down (hummer) bench is used in some design phase to make sure the virtual analysis
- New potential application areas are proposed for dissemination of the aluminum foam solution
