- A new front rail is developped within the projects
- Laser welding and patch welding are used as an optimisation parameter.
- 2 kg weight reduction is gained with new solution
Techical details and lessons learned ;
- For lightweight body structure front frame rail is designed with tailor laser welded two different thickness 1.2 and 2.5mm.
- The solution has been optimized with ;
- Safety cage protection during frontal crash,
- Fuel tank protection during rear crash,
- Fatigue life during driving with the aspect of energy absorption which is coming the from the road through the front suspension.
