Component : Aluminum Shock Tower
- 3 different sheet steel part is eliminated and instead of them one single die casted shock tower is developped.
- AlSi10MnMg die casting material is used for the lighter shock tower solution
- Aluminum shock tower is applied on steel body with using sealant and structural rivets
Techical details and lessons learned ;
- Cathodic corrosion effect is analyzed and protective sealant had chosen
- Durability target is achieved with new solution.
- Position and the characteristics of the structural rivets are optimized
- Total vehicle weight is reduced 2.6kg per vehicle.
